Getting back a long lockdown

We are certain that all martial artists waiting to get back to normal before the unprecedented occurrence of COVID 19, stopped all our active lives in their tracks. Overnight we had to stop getting together and share the sport and art we love so much.

The United World Martial Arts Federation used this time to plan for an opening with the necessary precautions and also to test many new and vibrant programs. We maintained our online seminars on kata and used this time to explore the Naha te and Shuri Te deeper understanding of kata and bunkai. Much was learned from these very informative and enjoyable sessions, which we broke into Kihon, Kata, bunkai history, and understanding the meaning of each kata. The kata selected from Naha Te were Seyunchin and Saifa, and from either Shuri te or Tomari Te were Bassai dai and Jitte. Each part of the kata was broken down into Embusen (Direction), and the 10 principles of Kata executive and attitude.

We will continue with this education starting with karate, moving on to Jujitsu and Kickboxing, thereafter followed by Kobudo and we will conclude with Kung Fu including Taichi, we will move to Krav Maga and then Korean Martial Arts and Qwan Ki Do, thus covering all martial arts under UWMAF, currently.

We are also getting ready for the 1st UWMAF World Championships for Karate and Kickboxing which will be held in Windhoek, Namibia from the 26th to 30th November 2021, this championship is for all ages and all divisions and formats for Karate – Traditional, General, Koshiki, Kyokushinkai, Sport Karate and in the Kickboxing the Sport Kickboxing Federation under Grand Master Farhad Dordar will determine the divisions and formats with our Chairman of the Technical Committee Shike Giacomo Bertoletti, it will be our first person to person, face to face even since 2019.
